Pay it forward

I was on the receiving end of some Christmas spirit this morning.

I went to pay for my Tim Horton's Extra large quintiple quintiple this morning, and was informed by the woman on the other side of the drive through window that the person in front of me had paid for my coffee!

I looked ahead, and watched the car in front of me drive away, and did not recognize the person at all.  Absolutely floored, I accepted the coffee and drove off.

I immediately felt embarrassed.  The proper response is to at least pass it on and pay for the person's order behind you!  I was way to stunned to have come up with that simple kindness at the time.

So later, on the way home, I stopped in for my last coffee of the day and asked how much the order was behind me.  I paid for it, and took off, happy that I could pass on the gift that was given to me earlier in the day.

If you are having trouble getting in to the Christmas spirit this year, I highly suggest buying the person behind you a coffee.  It cost me a Toonie, but the return on that investment was worth far more than that.
